ABOUT ME
My name is Frank Toncar, and I'm from Youngstown, OH. I'm the sole owner and engineer at Peace of Mind Productions. Ever since I was young I’ve had my mind set on a career in music, and after years of experimenting with different instruments, bands, and various paths in the industry, my heart always seems to come back to recording and producing. I began recording when I was roughly 13, experimenting with a USB microphone and Audacity to record demos for my band. This led to moving to a standalone Fostex 16 track recorder, then into the world of digital audio.
I graduated from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, where I studied music recording and upright bass under truly world class educators. College was a wonderfully busy time. In addition to 6 years of full-time classes and being steadily booked for studio work, I continued playing all sorts of music with bands like Tropidelic, Cosmic Lemons, and Two Days Until Tomorrow, and entered into a (fairly brief) adventure of co-owning and running sound at The Crawlspace Concert Club in Girard, OH.
Towards the end of college I discovered the world of theme park performance (I was living a couple hours from Cedar Point) and began doing corporate contracts playing music in bands/shows at parks like Cedar Point (Sandusky, OH), Carowinds (Charlotte, NC), and Kings Dominion (Richmond, VA). This type of work gave me an appreciation for music and genres that I might not have played otherwise, and allowed me to meet some INCREDIBLY talented people, a lot of whom became some of my closest friends.
Theme park performance gigs filled up most of my calendar from May-Dec from 2018-2021, and I'd be back in Youngstown for steady studio work from Jan-May. The theme park gigs had a lot of downtime for me to take on additional mixing/mastering projects, and to write music for my own projects.
In 2022 I moved to Nashville, TN to travel less and have a more permanent location to focus on studio work. I currently play and record regularly with pop-rock band Ravine, and I also fill in gaps between studio projects with music directing shows for theme parks and cruise lines, and enjoy traveling for that sort of work.
I've had a lot of experience in the music world, from performing to writing to touring to corporate work, but my heart always seems happiest when I'm mixing a great song , and this is how I know studio work is truly my main focus.
